Are your Vitamins Toxic ?

Toxic Vitamins

Synthetic vitamins are toxic to the body, and can actually cause vitamin deficiencies!  How can that be?  We all know that vitamins are good for us, aren’t they?

To answer this question I need to get technical.  Most biomolecules including vitamins exist in left and right handed mirror image forms.  Non living matter contains equal numbers of left-handed (L) and right handed (D) molecules.  The characteristic signature of living molecules is that they use only one hand.  Living animals are made of proteins containing only L amino acids.

Left hand and right hand molecules when tested in the laboratory have identical physical and chemical properties.  Most synthetic vitamins contain a mixture of 50 percent left-handed and 50 percent right-handed molecules.  When this mixture is introduced into the human body the right-handed molecules will actually compete with and block the receptor sites where the vitamins do their work in your body.  Only the left-handed molecules allow work to be done on the cellular level.  WOW!  The right-handed molecules block the action normally done by the vitamin when taken in its natural form.

You may be like so many of my patients who have collected a variety of supplements but the same time, don’t necessarily feel any better.

Synthetic vitamins are toxic to the human body and can actually cause vitamin deficiencies!  That’s why in my office, I’m careful to use only natural supplements with great results.  Let’s compare an orange to ascorbic acid (vitamin C).  In the orange we will find the whole vitamin C complex with all of the enzymes, co-enzymes, antioxidants, trace elements, activators, and other unknown factors that cause the vitamin to work properly and efficiently in our bodies.  Ascorbic acid, which is commonly sold as vitamin C, is only one part of what was once a whole food.

You can’t take the vitamin C complex or any other complex apart and expect it to work the way God designed it.  Once the complex is taken apart and separated some of the components are missing.  If the cofactors are not present ascorbic acid will not benefit your body.  It will just provide a toxic overload that the kidneys must remove.

Why do we take so many synthetic vitamins?  In Americawhen science comes up with a new discovery industry uses this new information to make a profit.  If a study shows that eating oranges reduces the frequency of colds industry says take a lot of vitamin C. In America if a little is good a lot must be better.  Vitamin C can be mass-produced in pill form and marketed to a willing public. Oranges have seasons and are not always available.  Refining the vitamin C complex from foods and maintaining it in its natural form is a more expensive and delicate process than the mass production of ascorbic acid.

Synthetic vitamins are usually much cheaper than natural supplements, since natural supplements involve growing whole food substances.  Synthetic supplements can come from many sources; even byproducts of various petrochemical companies.  So taking one or more isolated vitamins can actually create an imbalance of vitamins which is worse than the deficiency.  Synthetics can cause an imbalance.

When used in high doses synthetic vitamins can act as pharmacological agents– in other words, drugs.  For example, synthetic vitamin E is often recommended to be taken in dosages 20 to 40 times as high as it would naturally occur in food.  Why should we get many times the amount of the vitamin or mineral than we would naturally get in food?  In working with patients, I have seen that small amounts of whole food natural supplements are far more effective than mega doses of synthetic vitamins.

Remember the long-term use of synthetic vitamins can actually make you toxic.  How can you tell the difference?  Look for the names of real whole food sources on the label, such as wheat germ, dried alfalfa juice or mushroom on the label, rather than names of chemicals that you don’t understand and can’t pronounce.  Expect to see a lower potency in natural food supplements.  A small amount of a vitamin in its whole food form is more effective nutritionally than a large amount of a synthetic one.

Don’t waste your precious money on synthetic supplements, which cause expensive urine.  Be a good label reader and supplement shopper.

Alzheimer’s Break Through

Researchers from Tel Aviv University report in the PLoS ONE journal that the common spice cinnamon found in many kitchen pantries around the world may hold a crucial key to preventing Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease cases are growing at a rapid pace and currently affect one in eight people over the age of 65.  Research suggests that the devastating illness is in part the result of metabolic disruption in the brain and has been coined “Type III diabetes” as it disrupts insulin levels in brain tissue. A cinnamon bark extract, called CEppt has been shown to inhibit the development and progression of the disease in this latest study.

Researchers from the Department of Zoology at Tel Aviv University found that potent extracts from cinnamon bark inhibit the toxic amyloid polypeptide oligomers and fibrils that have been found in Alzheimer’s brain plaque formations. The healing power of cinnamon has been known since biblical times as high priests used the spice to protect against infectious disease. Antiviral properties have been confirmed by modern research, prompting studies to further examine extracts from the spice in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

Scientists have isolated the active compound found in cinnamon bark called CEppt and created an aqueous solution for use in research experiments. The solution was fed to genetically altered mice that have been predisposed to develop an aggressive form of Alzheimer’s disease. After a period of four months, researchers found that development of the disease had been slowed dramatically and activity levels and longevity was comparable to a control group of healthy mice.

“In addition to the disease regression findings, researchers determined that the cinnamon extract was found to break up the classic amyloid protein clusters in test tube experiments. Lead researcher Professor Michael Ovadia believes this indicates that CEppt is not only important to inhibit the development and progression of Alzheimer’s disease but may help to break up existing tangles once they have formed.”

“The discovery is extremely exciting. While there are companies developing synthetic AD inhibiting substances, our extract would not be a drug with side effects, but a safe, natural substance that human beings have been consuming for millennia.”

Nutrition experts recommend using cinnamon liberally sprinkled on food daily or supplementing with 500 mg of cinnamon bark extract taken daily with meals.

Anti-Aging Discovery

New Research is proving what many of us suspected all along that maintaining high levels if glutathione in the body reduces damage and prolongs life.

It works this way.

At birth our genes have a tail at each end.  One gene, two tails.  These tails are called telomeres.  Every time the gene divides to repair or make a new cell to replace an old one that is dying, the tail or telomere at each end of the DNA strand shortens a little bit.

So, as you get older, your telomeres get shorter and shorter.

The telomeres are only capable of shortening so many times in a lifetime.  They eventually become so short that the cell can no longer repair itself nor can it divide to replace itself with a new cell.  When this happens, the cell dies and is not replaced.  We observe this in the process of aging.  When the telomeres in enough cells become too short for effective repair and reproduction we die.

The telomeres on each gene in each individual cell in your body will shorten at a different rate depending on the stresses that cell is subject to.  They don’t all shorten at the same time or the same rate.

High levels of intracellular glutathione slow down telomere shortening and are now shown to repair and increase telomere length. Telomere shortening has been linked to:

  • Decreased immune response against infections,
  • Type 2 Diabetes,
  • Atherosclerotic lesions,
  • Neurodegenerative diseases,
  • Testicular, spleen and intestinal atrophy
  • and DNA damage.

I have taken supplements for years that have assisted and allowed my body to produce new glutathione and recycle and preserve the glutathione as I use it.

This is part of my daily nutrition protocol.
If you would like to boost and preserve your glutathione levels,
I can help you find the products I use.

Child Development Part 2

In light of the previous post on Child Development

What responsibility, if any, do Parents or Grownups who may be overseeing a corporate body of children like Schools or Churches have in regard to the programming input for these children.

I think all of you would agree that the primary responsibility rests with the parents of the child. The others should probably try to follow the medical adage, “First, do no harm.”  In the realm of health for our children those who have charge over the child need to be aware that there actions will lay down programming that will last a lifetime.

Here is an example:
70% of Americans are overweight, 217 million, with half of those, 108 million, being Obese. We know that being overweight will shorten ones life, plus increase the chances of Heart disease, Stroke, Diabetes, Kidney failure Cancer, Dementia, Fatigue and Inflammation to name a few conditions.

In many churches, including my own there may be a social gathering between services or after weekly services. Usually a treat of cookies or cake or donuts is provided. If you watch the line you will see most of the children getting their treat every week they attend. Many will say what’s wrong with a little treat.

The problem is we know this is installing programming that will last a lifetime. When the children are grown they will expect and search out a corporate body that will give treats every Sunday or every time groups of members gather together.  This activity is directly impacting their weight, their health and their ability to serve, in this case, God with stamina and vigor for as long as possible.  They will pass this basic programming pattern on to their children and grandchildren.

I suggest this is a stumbling block to the effective ministry of those impacted by being overweight as a direct result of those who should have known better and should have had the courage to change the practice in an effort to do no harm to those they had a responsibility to.

Child Development

We know that by the age of seven most of our habits and patterns, including eating habits, eating patterns and food preferences have been established and will be the dominant force in the child’s life from that time forward.

i.e. Our food preferences are set in stone.
Major food companies have spent hundreds of millions of dollars discovering this fact,  and they use this to their advantage in the marketing that they put in front of children whenever they are near a television.  That’s really the best access they have to our children, when they are sitting and watching television.  Their advertising is specifically designed to imprint, a child’s memory with a desire to consume their product.  They know that if they can establish this as a habit by the age of six or seven they will have imprinted the desire for that child to consume their product for a lifetime.

Science has discovered that from birth to about six or seven years old.
The brain is basically a blank slate.  The people, images, television shows and commercials that a child comes in contact with during those years lay down the BASIC programming that a child will follow for the rest of their life.  One example might go like this.  After a recent visit with your parents.  You come home and you’re interacting with your spouse.  You’re saying certain things and acting with a certain temperament.  When all of a sudden you look at your partner and say, I am acting just like my mother.  I can’t believe it.  I always said I didn’t want to be like that or talk like that.  I don’t understand, why am I acting that way?  I can’t seem to help myself.  The problem then is that during that time we spent time with our parents.  In those early years our brain was programmed to act that way, to respond to others in the exact same way that our mother or father may have reacted during the years when our basic programming was being installed.

The foods we give our children when they are very young will ingrain lifelong patterns and habits that they may never be able to overcome.  If you want them to grow up and eat healthy YOU MUST SET THE EXAMPLE FOR THEM WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG
